Have Questions?
HOW LONG SHOULD MY FIRST SURF LESSON BE?
For beginners, we recommend starting with a 2-hour session. This gives you enough time to learn fundamentals while staying energized. Most students master basic pop-ups and catching whitewater waves in this timeframe.
WHAT'S THE IDEAL WAVESURFING BOARD FOR BEGINNERS?
Longer, wider boards (8′-9′ soft-tops) provide the most stability for new surfers. Our rental fleet includes specially selected beginner boards with extra volume to help you catch waves more easily.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I WAX MY SURFBOARD?
Rewax your board every 2-3 surf sessions, or whenever the wax feels smooth/slippery. In warmer waters, use basecoat + tropical wax. Cooler climates require basecoat + cold water wax.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY FIRST LESSON?
We provide wetsuits appropriate for current water temperatures. Wear swimwear underneath. For sunny days, bring rash guards and waterproof sunscreen (we recommend zinc-based for ocean safety).
IS IT SAFE TO SURF AFTER RAIN?
We avoid surfing for 24-48 hours after heavy rainfall due to potential water contamination. Light drizzles are generally fine – our instructors constantly monitor water quality reports.
HOW DO I KNOW IF CONDITIONS ARE GOOD FOR BEGINNERS?
We look for:
• 1-3 foot wave faces
• Gentle rolling waves (not hollow/shorebreak)
• Light offshore or sideshore winds
• Moderate tide (not extreme high/low)
Our surf coaches check conditions daily and will advise the best times for learning.
